Switching Property Managers: What’s Involved
Switching is far simpler than most owners expect: in most cases we handle the entire handover, and your tenant barely notices the change.
Owners often stay with an underperforming property manager for years because the switch feels awkward or complicated. In reality, changing agents is a routine, well-trodden process, and you don’t need to wait for your tenant’s lease to end.
How the handover works
- You sign a management authority with Maxpro and, if required, give notice to your current agent per your existing agreement.
- We contact your current agent and arrange the transfer of keys, files, condition reports, and bond documentation.
- We introduce ourselves to your tenant and let them know how to pay rent and report maintenance from the changeover date.
- We conduct our own inspection, review compliance and the current rent against the market, and report back to you.
What it costs and how long it takes
Your existing management agreement may require a notice period, typically around 28 days. Beyond that, switching usually costs nothing: your lease, your bond and your tenant all carry over unchanged. Most handovers are complete within a few weeks of your instruction.
No awkward conversations
You don’t need to confront your current agent. Once you’ve signed with us, we handle the communication and the logistics. That’s normal professional practice between agencies, and it happens every week.
